iwin.com Writing Samples

At the time I worked on the FAQ's for my client, iwin.com was a very popular games-for-prizes web site. Visitors played games to earn points (i.e. "icoins"), which they used as currency to enter drawings to win prizes. At the time I worked on the project, my client, the Executive Producer, informed me that iwin.com's daily hits rated it as one the top twenty most frequented sites on the Internet. Indeed, its very success brought about a problem: how to cost-effectively deal with the high volume of requests for help in playing the games and getting the most from the site.

My assignment was to help reduce the telephone and email volume that was choking the company's technical support staff by rewriting the entire iwin.com online help system using a voice and a style that would not only make the Frequently Asked Questions section (FAQ) technically informative to the broadest possible range of computer users (i.e., the people who really need to stay up late reading all those "Complete Idiot guidebooks"), but also by making the copy entertaining, so that it blended naturally with the spirit of fun which permeates all the games on the site. Now, that's the kind of special assignment I thrive on.

Here is small sampling of the pages I wrote for the FAQ's in the HELP section for iwin.com. I present these pages as pdf files of the text I submitted to my client, because iwin.com has since morphed into another concept (a pay to play concept!) and the original links to my work for the site as it was conceived then are no longer valid.

By the way, I never met my client. He lives in Los Angeles: I live in Buffalo, NY. He hired me solely on the basis of reading some of my writing samples here on my web site. I did the work in about six weeks entirely by telephone contact and by email. Perhaps I could do something along those lines for you, too.
