SELECTED WRITING SAMPLES

The table on this page presents a few samples of my work as a writer, web copywriter, advertising copywriter, technical writer, and video scripwriter in a topical, or stylistical, fashion — regardless of when I crafted them.

I pride myself on my creativity and my versatility. Throughout my career as a writer and marketing communications specialist, I have been challenged to call upon a wide range of writing styles in a variety of genres. Thus, it has always been difficult for me to comply with a client's request to provide only my "best three writing samples" when applying for a job. Despite the broad range of my diverse portfolio (or perhaps because of it!), I'm never quite sure what—or how much!—a potential client or employer needs to read in order to be convinced that I can write.

That's one of the main reasons why I've developed this on-line portfolio web site. It's a cost-efficient way for me to give you an unfettered opportunity to examine my work in as much detail as you need to convince yourself that I can write pretty well indeed. I figure that, if you spend enough time exploring my site, you're bound to find something you like. Ideally, you have an exciting, new opportunity for me, and you'll want to give me a chance to learn something new as I prove myself to be a good communicator yet again.

At the same time, I also know that people tend to feel overwhelmed when presented with too much information. (I could tell by the way their eyes glazed over when I used to haul my portfolio samples in for local interviews.) Accordingly, on this page I have provided only a few links to a relatively small selection of the writing samples contained on this site. Hopefully, this selective list will make your evaluation of my skills less tedious, but just as productive.

If you don't find something on this shortened list that matches your needs, you can access a more comprehensive set of writing samples from my resume page, where my career history is presented in a reverse chronological order. By following the links associated with any job or free-lance assignment, you'll be able to review the work I did for any particular client or employer in more detail.

To give you a feel for how my employers and clients have viewed me and my work, I've provided excerpts from client testimonial letters on my home page: you can also read the complete text of their remarks on the Testimonials page.

To see samples of my work as a corporate-industrial video scriptwriter, producer, and director, go to the Videos page.

You will also find additional writing samples, like dramatic film treatments, on the Personal Projects: Works-in-progress page.
